I am Popular

Yes people. You read that right. I am popular. Not one, but two of my pictures have made the popular page. TWO. And both have over 200 likes. As any instagram lover will tell you, it’s an honour. Here are my pics. I shall now sit back and bask in my own glory….

I should also give a huge shout out to Biba over at Biba’s Photos who has also got her incredible photo on the popular page, and her mama has too!

Phone Envy

The Husband & His Equally Big Headed FriendI have a little bit of phone envy going on. The husband left the house this morning at 5.30 with his mate to queue to get an iPhone 4S. I stayed in bed.

Now I kind of wish I went too.  I know it’s not worth me spending money to get the latest Mac must have. My iPhone 4 with IOS5 is more than adequate. BUT I know when he’s bossing Siri around, and doing other such fancy things, I will be jealous. I will get bitter.  I’m already jealous and bitter and he hasn’t even started showing off yet. And he will show off. Believe me he will.

So what am I jealous about? Well Siri mainly. I have IOS5, and yes it’s def’ slicker with some nice little extras. I adore that if you double click the home button, you can get straight to your camera even when the phone is locked. As an Instragram lover, that’s a proper bonus.

But it’s Siri I want. I want to be able to boss her about, I want my own Personal Assistant. I spend a lot of time travelling to clients, and life would be so much easier if I could TELL her what needed to be organised, what messages could be sent and get her to text the childminder letting her know I am going to be late … again. If it works as well as the demo that is.

Looking at the reviews, Siri isn’t flawless but is bloody excellent. Joshua Topolsky at the Washington Post writes “ Siri. This is arguably one of the most meaningful updates to the iPhone we’ve ever seen“. Sulk.

And don’t even get me started on the 8MP front-facing camera, with its five-element lens, facial recognition and image stabilisation. Double sulk.

I know I don’t need it, but I also know I do bloody want it – even though I have been saying on twitter I don’t. I have changed my mind. Instead I shall have to listen to the endless bragging and showing off of the husband and his equally big headed friend. The bastards.

Instagram

Instagram - follow me @clairearchieI heart Instagram. Like proper love it. I am constantly snapping pictures on my iPhone and posting them, after a little filter love, for the world to see. By world, I mean my 309 followers.

Today I was VERY upset with Instagram. And I mean VERY. You see, I did the app update. The one which promised lots of fancy new filters without the crappy borders. So update I did. Post pictures I did. With said fancy new filters of course. Now, normally you take your photo, you tweak so you can pretend you’re a real super duper photographer, you upload via app and then you get a copy of your fabulous picture in your photo album under camera roll.

Today I did all that, went to bask in the glory of my fake super doper photography skills but my pictures were not there. They had not saved. I could have cried. I didn’t coz I’m hard but I can tell you, it was touch and go for a bit.

I headed to instagram and asked my adoring fans … insert 309 followers … what the hell was going on. A few sympathised with me, and thankfully, one came to my rescue. Thank you Mostly Yummy Mummy!

So, if like me, you are a user of Instagram, and if like me your images are not saving. This is what you have to do. And it’s easy.

  • Go to settings
  • Go to Instagram
  • Slide the Save buttons to Off
  • Slide them back to On
  • Come out of settings.

Done. Happy days.

ps. If you would like to follow me, you can find me as Claire A (@clairearchie)

pps. I have assumed of course that everyone uses an iPhone!
