The Gallery : Dads

I love taking photos of Phil and Little Legs, and with me being pretty useless at the moment, Phil is definitely flavour of the month in our house so we have taken quite a few lately – handy as Dads is the theme over at The Gallery.

Over the last few months I have been pretty rubbish, because of SPD, and now with the consultant putting me on bed rest until I am admitted at the end of the month, it’s all about Daddy! This isn’t a bad thing. In a way, it will help when baby comes as she’s less reliant/expectant on me to do everything. She still needs me for snuggles and only my magic kisses work when she hurts herself so it’s all good.

Fathers Day - Toddler and Dad

Anyway. This afternoon I was on bed rest and Phil was leaning over me, about to go in for a kiss (he was after something!). But Little Legs decided she was getting in on that and declared bundles! I had my new iPhone in hand, camera on, and caught this photo. I love it. Phil loves it. Little Legs just wants to know where her tongue is …. that’s a whole other story to do with what’s left of that facepaint!

Women on #BankNotes & Audrey Hepburn

I have been meaning to write this post about #Banknotes since Cybher. Actually, I have been meaning to write a post about Cybher since Cybher! BUT as I munched through my stash of Bahlsen biscuits this evening, in a quiet house, my mind started drifting towards women who are inspirational and should feature on #Banknotes.

In case you’re wondering why I give two hoots about women on #Banknotes, have a read of this. Now I know the Queen is on every banknote but that’s a birth right, not because of achievement. That’s not to say that she has not achieved anything, it’s saying that we need to recognise that many other important women have also achieved great things, and the Bank of England need to represent that.

So, my first thought was Princess Diana, not because she is one of the most iconic female faces of the past century but because of the campaigning work she did. Diana really made a difference to the campaigns she put her name too, including Aids, homelessness and civilian injuries from landmines. But it’s actually Audrey Hepburn I am going to go with. I know she’s not English, but she spent a lot of time in the UK, and I wish to recognise her for the work she did.

Audrey Hepburn is known as a style and screen icon. Beautiful with eternal style. But Audrey was so much more than that:

Hepburn was appointed Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF. Then-United States president George H. W. Bush presented her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her work with UNICEF, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences posthumously awarded her the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her contribution to humanity, with her son accepting on her behalf. Grateful for her own good fortune after enduring the German occupation as a child, she dedicated the remainder of her life to helping impoverished children in the poorest nations. – Wikipedia

Legend with a  cause. That gets my vote every single time. You can read more about what she was working on on her official website.

If you’d like to see which other women have been nominated as part of the #Banknotes campaign, pop over to the Pinterest board and check our Eva’s linky.

Cybher 13 – See you this weekend and the dress!

This weekend it’s Cybher and I can’t wait. It’s  going to be fabulous darlings! The schedule is amazing!

I’m speaking at two sessions, one brilliantly entitled “shit you didn’t know which will make you blog better” and the other is all about Pinterest, where the fabulous Natalie Lue will be joining me! Exciting.

Say Hello at Cybher

Avalicious Navy - My Cybher OutfitI’m crap with names - actually that’s not true – I’m crap with linking up twitter handles and blogs and people in real life. So if I look at you blankly at Cybher, please don’t be offended. Also please don’t wear your name badge on your breast, as I’ll spend the whole time trying to read it discreetly and will end up looking like I’m ogling your boobs. You have been warned.

Me, I’ll be one of the pregnant ones. There’s a few of us Bump Rockers there, but hopefully am the only one wearing this beautiful dress from Babes with Babies. I have been talking about that dress for a while over at The Bump Wear Project so when Babes with Babies sent me one a few months ago, I knew it was my Cybher dress. Not that they sent it for that reason, they sent it as a gift when I announced my pregnancy. No strings attached. I  like that. Always a bonus to be sent a dress!

I may have an evening change too, for the cocktail party, but that dress hasn’t arrived yet. If it arrives in time, I shall let you know all about it. Ecck.

My Cybher Assistant

At previous events, I’ve been running about sorting out all the things that need to be sorted out at these kind of events, but with my 32 week bump and my SPD that’s not going to be happening. However, I will still have my clip board and be miss bossy boots, but this time I am going to have my man there doing whatever is requested of him. He’s going to be my legs. Over the years I have abused him pretty badly over social networks and on my blog, you know, like when I tried to sell him. I have also posted a fair few photos of him half naked. He has a buff body after all! He’s really looking forward to coming to Cybher. Be gentle with him ladies. Or not. I don’t mind! He’s @philarchie on twitter so do say hello, and if you need something doing, tweet him and get him on it! He’s yours to command as the official Cybher biatch!!

Lizzie, if you’re reading this, you know you’re still my favourite mwahhhh xx

We have just put up a linky on Cybher for all your Cybher related posts – whatever they’re about, so do link them up.

So that’s it from me! See you there people.

Pinterest Pin It Forward

Pin It Forward UKIf you’re online a lot, you have probably spotted all the activity and energy surrounding Pinterest right now with the Pinterest Pin It Forward initiative – see #pinitforward. The guys and gals from Pinterest popped to the UK, met up with bloggers to create Pin It Forward UK. My Pinterest Boards

I’ve pinned over 5000 pins to boards such as Painted Furniture InspirationWallpaper Me Up Baby, Should be in my wardrobe and Bump Wear – Pregnancy & Maternity. I pin for occasions, but mostly, I use it as a place to store beautiful things. Sure I do the blog promo thing, but not for my personal blog. Pinterest is all about the pretties for me, and this blog is far from that!

I also use it for work, and have some secret squirrel boards that I use to store ideas. It’s great for that. Brilliant in fact!

Pinterest Pin It Forward

Now I’d like you all to pop over and say hello to Lulu Loves at www.lululoves.co.uk. You can find her on Pinterest here. Her pins are great for the family – think crochet, cookery, books, crafts and there’s a board called ‘just because’ which is ace!

Baby gender

The one where I announce my baby’s gender …

I wasn’t going to announce this, but I just can’t contain my excitement anymore!

The baby is …. * drum roll * …. a BOY!

It’s perfect. One of each. Although I wouldn’t have minded it being ‘me and my girls’.

But a boy is fabulous. Phil’s super excited.

We don’t disagree on much in life, but when it comes to this little one’s name, it just isn’t happening.

There’s a lot of no, nopes and no ways happening.

The name I love, he hates. The name he loves has grown on me, but now he doesn’t want it.

I’m sure it will come in time … wont it?!

If not, it will just be Junior.

Groupon Logo

Loving a bit of Groupon (+ a giveaway!)

I have just been having a little spend up on Groupon. I say I, but I mean Phil has been. He loves it. We were given a £100 to spend on whatever we liked and to tell you guys, honestly, what we thought. I wont lie, I had been holding out for a getaway like I have been banging on about, but with a growing bump, moving a week today and Phil’s hectic job it’s been really difficult for us to decide when that will be possible.

Sooo my darling husband, who is clearly up to no good or perhaps he’s had enough of my dappled grey look, has booked me in to have a hair cut and colour! I’m not offended, needs to be done. Especially since I hacked my own hair off a little while ago which was not a good idea! But  I am hoping those people at Kutz ‘n’ Beauty 5 will sort me out. I will be having a full colour and cut. £28. You really can’t complain, especially as you get a hand, arm and head massage for that price too!

Next purchase was a three course dinner for four at Ashbys Boutique Hotel which is 5 mins drive from us, but we have not been there before. The inlaws are coming down to help us move, so we thought we would treat them to dinner as a thank you. They don’t read this blog so will never know we’re doing it on the cheap, and if they did, it doesn’t matter, it’s the thought that counts right?! Winner. Works out at £10 a head! Boom.

Finally, Phil decided he needed the James Russell knives he has been eyeing up for ages. He only wants these because he likes the colours. I am not kidding. We have some perfectly good knives, but my man wants some pretty ones. Cute eh.

It’s so easy using Groupon, we have the app on our phones and iPads, and then you just choose what you want. You can even pay by paypal. I like that – especially as I am ALWAYS loosing my wallet / cashcard / mind. The hair cut and dinner just needs to be booked and I am waiting for the knives to arrive. Will report back.

Now a little something for you!

Those lovely people at Groupon have given me an additional £50 for one of you lucky people. All you have to do is fill in the details in the widget below and you can be a winner! Full T&Cs in the widget. Good luck x
