WaterAid Coast Along

Last weekend I had the pleasure in joining a few other bloggers as an ambassador for WaterAid. As I struggled with my stroller up hills, and down paths for five miles (minus a little shortcut!) I had moments when I wondered how hard it must be to do this once, twice, a day for water. Did you know one in eight of the world’s population do not have access to water and almost 40% of the world’s population do not have adequate sanitation? Shocking. Women and children walk on average 6km to often unprotected water sources, such as rivers or muddy dugouts carrying up to 20 Kgs of water, and their children. And I struggled pushing a stroller! Shame on me.

The Coast Along event is all about raising funds, but just as importantly awareness. But not only that, it’s a great way to get out there, get some fresh air and see our beautiful coastline. And if you’re part of Team “Skanky” Bunny (I didn’t choose the name obviously!) also a great reason to brief and debrief over a glass of wine.

It’s not too late to help on the fund-raising bit. Our just giving page is still open. So if you even have a couple of quid spare, please do give it to us!!

Here’s some photos …

Next year I aim to get involved again. But people, think twice before you take little ones. It’s hard work when you have them. Fact.
